Homemade Granola

Store bought granola is expensive, so why not make your own? This has been my go-to recipe for years, and it can be eaten with milk, yogurt, fruit or used to make overnight oats.

Any way you prepare it, you’re sure to love it! I always double the batch because we go through it so quickly.

This recipe is very forgiving, and you can add whichever seeds, nuts, dried fruit and spices you want or have on hand. If you want to keep it nut free or fruit free, just use oats!

In this particular photo is my cherry almond granola. I added dried cherries and chopped almonds with cinnamon as my spice.

Homemade Granola:

1 1/2 c Old Fashioned Oats

2 Tbsp Honey

3 Tbsp Maple Syrup

1 tsp vanilla extract or extract of your choice (Almond extract, coconut extract, etc.)

Cinnamon to taste (you can also use pumpkin spice or apple pie spice)

Optional add ins:

Coconut flakes

Almonds (chopped, slices or slivers)

Walnuts (chopped)

Pepitas (pumpkin seeds)

Chocolate chips or carob chips

Any nut or seed of your choice

Dried fruit of your choice (DO NOT add to the oven but add after the granola is done baking)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place all ingredients from the oats to the cinnamon in a large bowl and mix well. Add in the ingredients of your choice, leaving out any dried fruit, and mix well to coat.

Pour the mixture onto a parchment lined cookie sheet and place in the oven, and bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and stir to toss. Bake an additional 5-10 minutes until lightly golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the cookie sheet.

It must be completely cool before storing it in an airtight container. This is where you add the dried fruit of your choice if desired.

It keeps for up to 2 weeks in an airtight container on the counter, if it lasts that long.

Just a few ideas would be cherry chocolate oats, pumpkin pie oats with pepitas, apple pie oats, maple cinnamon oats, or even dried mango and coconut oats.

Enjoy!!
